      If you follow me on Instagram (@martinamotivation), then you already know that i'm all about spreading positive vibes and sharing whatever form of inspiration I can.
It's easy to say "be positive", trust me I do it all the time; but the honest reality is that we can't always be positive and that's something I had to learn while writing and sharing motivational articles all over Instagram and going through s&!# at the same time. Life can be difficult sometimes and in these difficult moments we often forget everything we've heard about being positive and trusting God to do his work. Being positive is hard, it's intentional work, you have to consciously remain in a state of positivity no matter how unfavourable or hopeless a situation may seem; but on the other hand, it's completely okay not be positive once in a while. We're human after all and we can't always hide our emotions behind a fake smile when all our body wants to do is express the hopelessness it feels.

I for one have had some difficult moments (several if i'm being honest with myself) when I think that there's no hope & that absolutely nothing can be done about a problem that i've encountered; and in those difficult moments, I realize that I really cannot control most of the things that happen in my life, especially concerning the future, then it becomes really easy for negative thoughts to creep into my mind and create a state of panic or even extreme anxiety. It's real, It's annoying, It happens to the best of us.

I know that I can't always be positive -it's impossible, but I also know better than to remain in a state of negativity and allow myself fall into depression. So I try as much as possible to remain positive and allow positivity become a default habit for whenever I have a problem.

Like I stated earlier, life can be difficult, we spend most of our days (and even nights) trying to build a future: one we think is perfect, or we feel will be the best fit for us. And most of the time, things don't go as planned and that becomes an obvious problem, distractions and obstacles make it even harder for us to achieve our goals and then we get frustrated, the frustration eventually breeds negativity, we have so many negative thoughts that we begin to question our abilities; did I dream too big?, did I really think I would achieve this?, what was I thinking when I decided to do this?, nobody has ever done this, why did I think i'll be any different?.

In these moments, we forget that there'll be problems, and we jump at the option to quit whenever we see that we're not getting to our end goal as fast as we thought. We forget that we need these mistakes and trials to make us better, to build a strong foundation in order to sustain what we're striving for, we forget that we need to fail and try again, only to fail better, to do much better, to make a difference and tell a story that leaves a mark. We forget that we actually NEED to be positive in times like this.

Being positive or having a positive mindset isn't a days job, it takes time, I'm still learning a lot myself, and sometimes it may look like you're in the most hopeless situation but the very fact that you're still trying is more than enough. The truth is that even when you don't have the will to be positive because of an overwhelming feeling of uncertainty, positivity will find you; it may be an advice from a friend, a talk with your mom, the moment after a short prayer, you reading this long article 😬. You just have to be willing to accept it. Nothing in this world can bother you as much as your own mind, that's why positivity (determination, consistency & Jesus) is the air you need to keep you going when you feel like you can't anymore.

I hope you stay positive in your moment of trial, (because that is what it is -a trial. And trust me it only lasts a moment, it will only last longer if you give it the power to) this also goes to say that being positive doesn't imply that the problem is no longer there, it just means that the negative feeling around it doesn't take control over you, so that you can actually find solutions or alternatives, and if for some reason you can't be positive or you have no one to motivate you, you can always talk to us at nwaanyi.  Have a good positive day.
